PIERIS Fund Supports ACDT with New Computers for Advanced Spectrometer Operations

The PIERIS Fund has funded the acquisition of two computers for the ACDT team. This investment enables seamless connectivity and operation of specialized spectrometers dedicated to spectral analysis of transparent materials.

The computers will be paired individually with the team’s spectrometers: the recently acquired Infitec 7500 (funded by GITKOM) and the forthcoming OceanView HR model. Each system requires a dedicated PC to install analytical software, connect hardware, and process data efficiently.

The Infitec 7500 excels in delivering precise measurements within constrained spatial setups, while the OceanView HR offers greater flexibility for varied experimental environments. Together, these tools will power in-depth optical spectral analysis on key materials such as lead tungsten crystals and aerogels—essential components in Cherenkov and scintillating detectors used for particle physics and radiation detection applications.

This upgrade enhances the team’s capabilities in detector development, paving the way for more accurate and versatile research outcomes. The ACDT team expressed gratitude to the PIERIS Fund and GITKOM for their support in advancing scientific innovation.
